Classroom Environment
What You Will See
In our classroom you will see a structured day full of opportunities to play and be a kid. We follow a theme based curriculum that promotes Kindergarten readiness but also provides opportunities for children to play and explore on their own. With hands on activities and an educator with a background and experience in early childhood education, they will learn while having fun, developing at their own pace and be ready to begin Kindergarten. Even when it looks like all play and no work your child will be learning and developing crucial skills they need. Many times this will occur at one of our 7 different learning centers including reading, writing, building, dramatic play, discovery, art and sensory.
Schedule and Activities
Our school schedule follows closely with the Harford County Public School calendar with a few exceptions such as PD days, early dismissals and delayed openings. We run strictly as a preschool program every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 to 4:30pm and are closed on Tuesday and Thursdays. No before or after school care is available.
We provide engaging activities both in and out of our classroom for explorers and their families during our year such as family events, family engagement days one weekend a month, special area teachers for art, music, and library and community volunteers like the fire department for fun during our learning experience.
We do follow a daily schedule to keep structure but have plenty of opportunities and wiggle room in our day so that Explorers get plenty of time to play, explore and just be kids. Whether attending full day or half day your child will get to enjoy up to two outdoor play times as well as two indoor center times. We also make every effort to take our learning outside as much as we can.

Mixed-age Groups
All of our learners whether 3, 4 or 5 are mixed together. We complete activities as a whole group, smaller groups and every child's learning is differentiated based on age and abilities. We feel this is very beneficial to their social learning and development. Combining children close in age allows them to learn leadership skills, motivates their learning and independence, problem solving skills and helps create a close bond with one another just as they would with siblings.
Outdoor Area
Our outdoor area is a work in progress but as we grow, it will grow which we are very excited about. We currently offer a safe, enclosed area for children to play as well as a large backyard to run, climb on our climbing domes, swing on the swing set or just explore all that nature has to offer. Whether it's drawing with chalk, building in our construction zone, talking with friends, playing with toys or exploring our play equipment, your child will be safe, happy and healthy with a teacher present at ALL times.
