Safety Procedures, Drills and Precautions
At Little Explorers our philosophy is to keep your child safe at all times when he/she is in our care. We have developed an emergency plan that will be put into place in the event that special circumstances require a different type of care. These plans are reviewed annually and we are trained in the appropriate response. Local emergency management is aware of our plan so that everyone can remain safe and calm. The purpose of sharing this information with you is not to cause you worry, but to reassure you that we are prepared to handle all types of emergencies in a way that will ensure the safety of your child.
Procedures
In the event of an emergency we have an emergency preparedness plan in place. Details about this plan can be found in our enrollment packet for families and is reviewed every year. We follow several procedures in order to keep everyone safe. These include sheltering in place, lock down, contact method, evacuation and both a nearby and distant evacuation site. We follow many procedures within our classroom as well, approved by MSDE and the Office of Childcare. These procedures are in place to keep everyone safe and healthy at all times.
Drills
We practice several different drills in order to keep everyone calm and safe in the event of a real emergency. These drills include fire drills one time per month and both lock down and shelter in place drills are practiced twice a year.
Precautions
Many precautions are put in place to keep children safe and healthy while in our care. Everything from our layout, plans, emergency and first aid kits, sanitizing, disinfecting, proper training and taking extra precautions toward infectious diseases helps us create this safe learning environment for all.
